The world-renowned manufacturer of dashcams – the South Korean company Pittasoft Co. has launched an upgraded version of the single-channel (front only) dashcam Blackvue DR970X-2CH with the PLUS designation. This camera features a high-quality 8.29 Mpx SONY STARVIS 2 sensor, which offers 4K Ultra High resolution 3840×2160@30fps. The main innovations of this model are:

SONY STARVIS 2 : The biggest change is the deployment of the modern SONY STARVIS 2 IMX678 image sensor, which has already been successfully used in other models. This sensor improves low-light sensitivity and offers better dynamic range for more faithful images.

New f/1.7 aperture lens : The camera features a new f/1.7 aperture lens, allowing it to capture more light than previous models with an f/2.8 aperture. This enables faster exposures, reduces blur, and delivers sharper images.

Enhanced image processing (ISP tuning) : Special attention has been paid to image signal tuning, increasing dynamic range and image fidelity. The result is clearer and more detailed footage, especially when shooting at night or in high-contrast scenes where conventional cameras struggle to retain detail.

Double event buffer : The new model offers double the time buffer – instead of 5 seconds, it now records 10 seconds before the event itself. This feature is useful for recording situations that occur while driving or parking, including detected motion, manually triggered events by the touch sensor, or shocks detected by the accelerometer.

HEVC/H.265 Video Compression : The 4K Plus series uses HEVC (High-Efficiency Video Coding) to compress recordings, offering higher quality at smaller file sizes. However, users can also choose to use the traditional AVC/H.264 codec. HEVC allows recording at higher bitrates of up to 60 Mbps, with lower settings also available.

Possibility of expanding with a second camera : Although it is a single-channel model, the user can purchase and connect another camera - whether it is a rear camera, an interior camera with IR night vision or an external waterproof camera. Blackvue DR970X-2CH PLUS can be an invaluable assistant in solving traffic incidents - in the event of emergency braking by another driver that leads to an accident, the recording will serve as important evidence.

Blackvue Cloud – Remote Monitoring and Control : With Blackvue Cloud, you can access real-time video footage from anywhere, play back saved videos, track your vehicle's location on a map, and monitor the situation around it.

Wide angle shooting and 4K UHD quality : The DR970X-2CH PLUS camera offers a wide 146° front camera viewing angle and takes full advantage of 4K UHD resolution, ensuring higher quality and more detailed footage day and night.

Optional LTE Module : With an additional LTE module, the Blackvue dash cam can serve as a mobile hotspot, allowing additional devices to connect to the internet.

REPLACEMENT SECONDARY CAMERA FOR BLACKVUE DR970X PLUS SERIES

The DR970X PLUS series dash cam models feature a universal secondary camera connector, found on all main camera units. This allows you to connect a conventional rear camera, an interior infrared (IR) camera, or an external IR camera designed to capture the rear of the vehicle (sold separately) to the front camera.

CRYSTAL CLEAR IMAGES EVEN IN LOW LIGHT

In ideal lighting conditions, 4K cameras offer a significant advantage over lower resolution ones, especially when capturing essential details such as vehicle license plates.

However, conventional 4K dash cams can struggle to maintain image quality at night. This is not the case with the DR970X Plus series. While most 4K dash cams struggle to maintain sharpness in challenging situations such as low light or fast-moving objects, the DR970X Plus models excel in these conditions.

The main unit of this series uses Sony's cutting-edge STARVIS 2 sensor and BlackVue's improved image signal processor (ISP), offering exceptionally clear and detailed recordings even in minimal lighting.

The Blackvue DR970X dash cam can be hardwired into your vehicle's fuse panel for parking mode without the need for additional accessories. The dash cam will automatically switch to parking mode when the vehicle's ignition is turned off. Power cut-off and timer can be set in the BlackVue app .

Online vehicle monitoring

Thanks to 4G/LTE technology (*you need to purchase an LTE Connectivity module and a data SIM card from your operator), you can track the location and route of your vehicle online and also watch a live view from the front and rear Blackvue car camera . The camera also has a built-in speaker and microphone , which ensures online remote communication . In the event of movement near the vehicle or its damage, the advanced parking mode system can send a message to your smartphone , thus perfectly protecting your vehicle .

Mobile hotspot function

Turn your Blackvue DR970X-2CH Plus 64Gb dash cam into a Wi-Fi router for your car (requires purchase of LTE Cennectivity module).
With the Mobile Hotspot feature, your Blackvue dash cam can turn into a mobile internet router for up to five devices at the same time . This means you and your passengers can now use your Blackvue's internet on your laptop, portable game console, tablet or mobile.

To connect to Blackvue, simply open your device's Wi-Fi menu, select Blackvue, and enter the dash cam's Wi-Fi password.

Built-in speaker, shock sensor and motion detection

Speaker : your dash cam will tell you when it turns on, turns off, or detects errors.
Accelerometer: detects impacts and triggers event recording. Initiates parking mode* when stationary for 5 minutes.
Automatically tags video files: while driving, the built-in accelerometer (G-sensor) detects impacts and sudden changes in speed. While parking, your BlackVue also detects visual movements around your vehicles.
Use filters in the BlackVue app and viewer : BlackVue labels all videos (Normal, Event, Parking Mode, etc.) so you can filter them and quickly find the ones you need in the BlackVue Viewer (Windows, Mac OS, Web) or BlackVue App (Android, iOS) .

Event File Overwrite Protection: Dashcams record in a loop and overwrite older files when the memory is full. BlackVue can prevent event files (manually triggered or by shocks) from being overwritten. Up to fifty (50) files can be protected in this way . You can choose to allow new event files to overwrite past event files, thus preserving the last fifty.

Adaptive file management without formatting: this file system developed by BlackVue improves recording stability and requires less formatting of the microSD card.

SD card failure warning: your BlackVue will detect that the microSD card is malfunctioning and will alert you with a voice prompt saying "Please check SD card".

Tamper-Proof Case (optional)

The tamper-resistant case (reference number: BTC-3A) is a security accessory that blocks physical access to the microSD card slot and prevents the power and coaxial cables from being disconnected, significantly reducing the risk of data tampering.

Note: BTC-3A replaces the original dash cam mount.

The BlackVue dash cam automatically switches to parking mode to monitor your parked vehicle.
Thanks to the video buffer, the few seconds leading up to the triggering of events are also recorded.

The DR970X-2CH Plus 64Gb dash cam supports two parking mode options:

Parking mode with motion and impact detection (detects both):

Motions recorded by the image sensor (marked with “P” in the file list).
Impacts detected by accelerometer/G-sensor (marked with "E" in the file list).
Select detection areas to reduce the risk of triggering unwanted motion recordings due to trees swaying in the wind, distant moving objects, etc.

Time-lapse video

Continuous recording at 1 FPS (one frame per second). Videos play at 30 FPS.
1 minute video in parking mode with time-lapse video = 30 minutes of real-time coverage.
A 32 GB microSD card can hold over 54 hours of time-lapse video from the front and rear dash cams at the highest (extreme) quality setting.
When a collision is detected, the dash cam creates a video event in the buffer.

Voice notifications for parking mode events:
After exiting parking mode, your BlackVue will tell you if events were recorded while you were away from your car, so you can immediately view event videos in the BlackVue app.

Scheduled restart:
Schedule a daily automatic reboot (optional - defaults to night) to minimize potential errors. The reboot will only occur if the dashcam is in parking mode and not writing data to the microSD card.

Top secret:
In parking mode, turn off all LED indicators completely. Only the recording LED facing the vehicle interior will flash when motion or impact is detected.
